While practicing law, Mr. Peterson negotiated the purchase of a nearby aluminum smelter. Thereafter, he founded Columbia Ventures Corporation (CVC), currently a private equity company, where he remains the Chief Executive Officer. Subsequently, CVC has owned and operated companies in many sectors including primary metals, telecom, and pulp and paper. These investments have often been multi-national in scope. More recently, CVC has invested in regional startup companies which have identified proprietary business models with high growth potential.
