A Whopping 98% of People Say COVID-19 Has Accelerated Digital Transformation (Source: RealWear Future of Work Pulse Survey)
If the first time you’re using our device is during COVID-19, you’re not alone. RealWear is at the true technology epicenter of frontline remote work operations thanks to our strategic partnerships with Microsoft Teams, Zoom, Cisco Webex, and hundreds of other solution providers around the globe.
We wanted to find out exactly how much COVID-19 has truly accelerated digital transformation, so we developed our first Future of Work Pulse Survey to end the historic year with a better understanding. We’d seen a lot of articles about this, but we wanted to put some hard data to it. We thought this would help us understand the direction our technology will take, as we’ve already heard that ‘there’s no going back.” It’s always good to get a reality check, to check the pulse with our customers. We’d already talked about how our technology was being talked about as a necessity, no longer a nicety.
Here’s what we learned.
COVID-19 is set to change every major aspect of how we work.
In summary which we rolled up in our press release:
- 76% of respondents say that COVID-19 has accelerated Connected Worker programs.
- Half of the respondents felt collaboration has actually improved since COVID-19.
- 70% of the respondents felt more hopeful regarding the future since the pandemic
- Over 90% agree or strongly agree they now have the right remote tools to do their job
- 78% of respondents believing that remote tools has improved productivity in the workplace.

Our business appears to be supportive of more remote work, although will not completely go remote,” said one respondent. “We are deploying RealWear HMT-1 to many of our construction sites and project site visits. Usage of HMT-1s increased rapidly during the pandemic. Our business is invested in “digital twins” and use of laser scans, 360-degree camera-based platforms, and drone surveys.”
The survey was conducted in partnership with the industry group Augmented Reality for Enterprise, or AREA.
